Will you partner with us to provide warm meals, a safe place to live, rent assistance, summer camp and much more to neighbors in need?

Countless opportunities exist for volunteers within all programs The Salvation Army provides. Children, the elderly, the homeless, those in recovery, and those in transition - all need a helping hand and support from an open heart

The Vail Valley Salvation Army has numerous opportunities during the 2016 holiday season for involvement within our community. Please contact (970) 748-0704 for additional information.

Food Pantry Helper: The Vail Valley Salvation Army stands ready to fight the pandemic. Our food pantry is open to provide food assistance to families and individuals in need. We are looking for volunteers who would like to help our food pantry put together food boxes and bag produce. Food Pantry Helpers also clean refrigerators/freezers and sometimes help unload or pick up food deliveries. They might also be asked to help maintain cleanliness in the pantry and storage areas and hand out food to clients. Due to COVID we can only accept groups up to 4 people. Pantry hours vary, but volunteer hours are Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm. Volunteers should be able to lift up to 30 lbs.   Apply Now

Garden/Greenhouse Helper: We operate a community garden/greenhouse that has many uses from providing healthy options in our food pantry to holding classes that teach people of all ages how to grow their own, nutritious food. We are in need of Garden/Greenhouse volunteers to help with watering, weeding, planting, harvesting, property maintenance and other projects as needed. This opportunity is available throughout the week - we'll work with your schedule! Evenings and weekends are available. Volunteers should be able to lift up to 30 lbs. Apply Now

Office help: We would love to have folks who would come to the offices and help answer and return phone calls during November and December. If they can type, we'd love help with data entry as well. We need bi-lingual helpers to make phone calls to clients, as well.

Unloading Food: We need help the first Monday of every month unloading food from the Food Bank of the Rockies truck to our pantry. It only takes a couple of hours in the afternoon.

Fill the Vans: On November 18, 2017, Colorado Mountain Express and Public Safety is doing their annual Fill the Vans food drive.  We need helpers in the afternoon to assist in unloading the food from the vans.

Ring the Bell:  From the day after Thanksgiving, until Christmas Eve. We need bell-ringers. Starting at 10 a.m. in two-hour shifts. Last shift from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Locations: City Market in Vail, Avon & Eagle, Safeway in Vail, Village Market in Edwards, Wal-Mart, and Ridley's Market in Gypsum. Click in the link above to sign up!

Food Baskets:  We will assemble and deliver Thanksgiving baskets on the Saturday before Thanksgiving at Avon Elementary in Avon, and at the United Methodist Church in Eagle. No need to sign up, just show up on or before 9:00 a.m.

There are many other things that come up all the time, and it is good to have people who are willing to be "on-call".

Vail Valley Salvation Army could not do what we do without the help of committed volunteers and such a giving and caring community.

Many thanks for all you do!
